Suite 101 website is an easy to follow guide for all freelance writers. Ensuring the best chance of your article being read and you making an income from it

Opportunities for freelance writers are all over the web. What Suite 101 offers the freelance writer is the freedom to write about whatever topic takes their fancy. Topics ranging from politics to knitting are all covered here, with only a few guidelines required to create a professional article consistent with the writing styles of the other contributors. To become a successful Suite 101 contributor, there are a number of practices one should follow.

Suite’s Best Practices

  • Make sure that titles use key words that will be easily found using a search engine
  • Subtitles should offer extra details but do not repeat the same words used in your title
  • Keep your article short and concise. 400-600 words
  • Separate your article into smaller blocks by using subheadings
  • Interlinking other articles you have written is wise, if the content is related. However, one should limit these links to 3
  • Links that take the reader to an outside site should be limited to 2
  • Try and use appropriate images to make the article more visually appealing
  • Use references for photographs and other resources used
  • All work should be original
  • Be sure to assign your work to the appropriate category, as this will also make it easier for readers to find your articles
  • Always double-check your work for spelling or grammatical errors

Your Writer Profile

Ensure you update your writer profile with a black and white headshot and any relevant experience you have. Include work experience, education or any awards received that relate to topic/s you will write about. Readers will appreciate reading articles by people with some knowledge on the subject matter.

Writing Your First Article

Suite 101 will assign your first article to you, and an editor will review it, checking for errors. The contributor will receive an email if the editor feels that the writing needs improvements or corrections. Once your article is approved, it is published and you are free to write articles on the topic/s of your choosing. As a contributor, you are required to write 10 articles every 3 months, but are encouraged to write more if you wish.

Writing good quality articles on the same topic may make you eligible to become a feature writer if there is a position available. Becoming a feature writer offers additional benefits including business cards, a Suite 101 email address and a 20% bonus on articles.

Making Money on Suite 101

Once you begin to publish articles, you can make money. The amount of money you earn depends on many factors including the quality of your articles, how frequently you post articles and how easily search engines find them. You are paid a share of ad revenues that relate to your work. Suite 101 should be considered a long-term investment, and not a quick rich scheme, and articles will continue to generate an income for as long as they are on the site.

So now that you have published your first article, you can give yourself a hearty pat on the back as you gaze over your article and see your byline.
